Kambon Says Partnerships Key To Meaningful Involvement In Schools

Oct. 4, 2011

Listen to the audio

Ako Kambon told a crowd of parents and educators that they were "all in this together," the theme of his speech. Kambon, a longtime educator and president of the Visionary Leaders Institute in Ohio, gave parents practical tips like turning off the television at least one night per week, while also attempting to de-mystify relationships between parents and educators. After the speech, Kambon and Waco ISD superintendent Bonny Cain talked about the speech's themes. Kambon said his message requires hard work to come to fruition, but the theme is still simple.

Ako Kambon was the second speaker in the series of community events put on by the Greater Waco Community Education Alliance, whose next event is the annual Education Summit in November, featuring author Wes Moore. For KWBU News, I'm Derek Smith.
