PBS Presents 'When Families Grieve': A Talk, Listen, Connect InitiativeApril 14, 2010
Experiencing the death of a loved one is never easy, and talking about it with family can be difficult, too. However, Elmo, his cousin, and Katie Couric take on the topic of death in Sesame Street's Prime Time Special When Families Grieve. This is the third part in a series of shows that are intended to help families in tough times.
Lynn Chwatsky is Outreach Initiatives and Partners Assistant Vice President. She oversees the execution of various Sesame Workshop initiatives that reach beyond television into local communities.
The prime time series is also part of a larger Talk, Listen, Connect, outreach initiative that provides free resources in support of families with young children, in the military and the general public, coping with challenging transitions in their lives.
'When Families Grieve' airs tonight on KWBU TV at 8 p.m. For more information on KWBU's outreach and education initiatives email Roxie Collier, firstname.lastname@example.org. Packets on grief are also available online at the sesame street website, sesamestreet.org/grief. For KWBU, I'm Jacqueline Deavenport.
