KWBU News FeedScholarship Initiative Aims To Make Baylor More Affordable
Sept. 15, 2010
When Ken Starr took over as president of Baylor, he said addressing the cost of education was his top priority. Here's Judge Starr on June 1st.
Just over three months later, he addressed the issue head on with the roll-out of his first major initiative as president.
The roll-out of the initiative comes at a time when not just the cost of higher education, but the overall muddy financial outlook is a key concern for families with children considering college.
The campaign targets four areas: need-based scholarships, leadership-endowed scholarships, athletes, and "out of the classroom" endeavors such as study-abroad programs. The three year program hopes to reach its 100 million dollar goal by 2013; Baylor donors and alums can expect to hear requests for support in the near future. For KWBU News, I'm Derek Smith.
