The exhibit, which features historical Black figures from Waco, will run through the end of February.

Dozens of Wacoans filled the halls of the Dewey Community Center this morning to celebrate the official opening of the center's Black History Month mini museum exhibit.

The mini museum was curated by Felicia Bible, an employee at the center. It features a historical walk through of Black figures from Waco, including LaRue Dorsey, A.J. Moore, Jules Bledsoe and many others who impacted America and the world.

Deloz Lenord, a volunteer at the museum, hopes the exhibit will spark conversations about Black history in Waco.

DELOZ LENORD: "Come by, take a look, read the walls and learn some history — And then think of some things you can do in your homes and in your various communities to help encourage and give knowledge to our children and to our adults about Black History Month and what it stands for."

The free exhibit is open to the public and runs through Feb. 28.
