Sports analytics as a tool to inspire the next generation of data and statistical science—that’s the idea behind a new project, led by Baylor and funded by the National Science Foundation.

Rod Sturdivant, associate professor of statistical science and director of Baylor’s Statistical Consulting Center, is a co-principal investigator on the million-dollar project. In this Baylor Connections, Sturdivant shares how students will interact with sports-driven content and examines partnerships with 70 sports teams and five universities to train up a new generation of data and statistical scientists.
