When Rev. Charles G. Hayes passed on in 2014 at the age of 77, he left a legacy of 30 albums during his more than 50 years as the founder and pastor of Chicago’s powerhouse Cosmopolitan Church of Prayer. The LPs were released on a host of labels, including Savoy, Word, and Epic and spawned a number of classic gospel songs: “Jesus Can Work It Out,” "Where You Gonna Run To," "Got to Keep Moving," "Well Done Servant," and "Heaven is my Goal."
One of Hayes’ last releases was The Remix, which took many of his best-loved songs and updated the music – and the beats. The Remix did so well that it even ended the year ranked in the top five in Billboard’s R&B charts! From the album by the same name, here’s Hayes taking the lead vocals on the old gospel stomper, “Everything is Alright.”
