This week, Baylor University announced Mack Rhoades as its new athletic director.

Rhoades comes to Waco as the university is reeling in the wake of a sexual assault scandal that saw former Baylor AD Ian McCaw resign. Baylor interim president David Garland announced the move this week, saying in a statement that Rhoades "is a charismatic leader that pays close attention to details and cultivates solidarity among the coaches and staff."

Prior to Baylor, Rhoades spent a year as the director of intercollegiate athletics at the University of Missouri. His time there was dotted with high-profile events, such as the Missouri football team's strike in support of student protests against the university's response to racism on campus.

In a press release Rhoades said the past year has taught him about who he is as a person and a leader.

Prior to his stint at Missouri, Rhoades spent several years at the University of Houston.

Rhoades will be introduced to media Monday July 18th.
