SHOUT! Black Gospel Music Moments - "We Three Kings" by Williams Brothers

You’re not likely to hear a more creative interpretation of the old carol “We Three Kings” than this one by the Williams Brothers.

Mississippi has been the home of a number of great gospel music labels, including Paula, Jewel, Malaco and the short-lived Blackberry Records. Likewise, artists like the Jackson Southernaires, the Canton Spirituals, the Blind Boys of Mississippi, the Mississippi Mass Choir and others called the state home. In recent decades, the Williams Brothers have ruled the home of the Delta blues and Elvis Presley.

The wonderful Christmas compilation – Down Home Christmas in Mississippi -- is dominated by contributions by the Williams, including the one of the jazziest, most creative versions we’ve ever heard of “We Three Kings.” You can go to our website, KWBU.org and scroll down to the Black Gospel Music Restoration Program tab and hear the entire thing!

MUSIC: (2352) Williams Brothers, “We Three Kings,” from the Down Home Christmas in Mississippi LP, Side 2, Track 6 (December 24, 2023)
