Air Force Officials Identified Two Men Killed In Workplace Violence

The U.S. Air Force has released the names of two people killed at Joint Base San Antonio – Lackland in what is being classified as workplace violence.  Initial reports of an active shooter put the base on lockdown Friday morning.

The502ndAir Base Wing confirmed on Saturday afternoon Air Force Lt. Colonel William A. Schroeder and TechnicalSgt. Steven D. Bellinoof the37thTraining Wing were found dead Friday morning atLackland’sMedina Base Annex.

Lt. Colonel Schroeder was the commander of the 342nd training squadron.  Sgt. Bellino was a student in the same squadron. The bodies of both men were discovered byBexarCounty Sheriff’s deputies responding to an active shooter call just before9a.m.Friday. Twoglockhandguns were found nearby.  The Sheriff’s office initially speculated this was a murder-suicide; the Air Force, which is still conducting its investigation, has not confirmed that or provided any further details on what happened.
