On Tuesday, McLennan Community College celebrated Constitution Day with a visit from Texas' 10th Court of Appeals. The judges conducted three live oral argument sessions and hosted a question & answer session for the students in attendance.
About 100 students filled the MCC Conference center, listening as the three-judge panel shared words of wisdom. Chief Justice Tom Gray said he hopes that events like this help students think more critically about the field of law.
"Law is a discipline of how to think about and solve problems, it's just that we do it for different people," he said. "The same concept can be applied to your life: Identify the problem, what are the potential solutions, how do I get there? Those are the type of decision-making outlines that everyone needs to have whether its for someone else or themselves."
Many students interested in law said the event provided good insight into the legal progress in Texas and will make them more prepared for a career in law.
