At KWBU, we love connecting with and strengthening our community. Bringing loyal listeners and newcomers alike beyond the airwaves. One of our favorite ways to do that is meeting in person through a number of fun events. Whether you're new to the city of Waco or you're a longstanding local, KWBU Community events are a great way to get to know fellow listeners and members of the team here at Waco Public Radio.

For a decade, the Waco Independent Film Festival has been where bold stories, big laughs, and unforgettable movie-magic moments come to life. What started as a local love letter to independent film has grown into one of MovieMaker Magazine’s Coolest Film Festivals in the World—a place where filmmakers and film-fans come together to connect, create, and celebrate the power of storytelling.

TICKETS FOR KWBU MEMBERS
As media partners with this year's Waco Independent Film festival, we have festival tickets - and we're offering them to KWBU members. These "Admit One" tickets provide access to one film block or panel or screenplay reading at the festival, to be held at the Waco Hippodrome July 16 through 19.

If you have donated to KWBU in the past year, contact Loretta at loretta_howard@baylor.edu or 254-710-7887 to receive tickets for yourself and up to one guest. The supply is limited, so it's first-come, first-served.

Thank you for supporting Waco Public Radio.

UPCOMING KWBU EVENTS
July 10 - Improv and Karaoke
Every Friday, from 6 pm to 8 pm, for the next eight weeks, 'Summer Nights' is bringing a whole range of family-friendly fun, food, and live music. Be sure to join us.

This week at Summer Nights, it's all about 'being in the moment', as The Brazos Theatre Improv Troupe will be on-site, bringing plenty of fun and games for you to get involved with.

Plus, if you've got a go-to Karaoke jam, this Friday, we wanna hear it! Even if you haven't, perhaps this is the week you road-test a few songs.
August 6th - Likely Stories Book Club
The Likely Stories Book Club is taking a little break in July, but we shall be back on Thursday, August 6th, with a fascinating title to discuss. The next book up for debate is the Pulitzer Prize-winning, 'James' by Percival Everett.

A reimagining of Mark Twain's Adventures of Huckleberry Finn from the perspective of the enslaved character Jim, who insists on being called James.
