US Congressional District 17, which includes McLennan County, parts of Round Rock and far east Texas, went to republican incumbent Pete Sessions.
Sessions will be returning to Congress to represent District 17 for his second consecutive term.
"I'll be the senior member of the Texas Delegation of Republicans, and we have an obligation to make sure we do what we said we'd do," Sessions said.
At a watch party after the announcement, Sessions said he is excited to return to Washington and will work to get spending under control.
The McLennan County Precinct 2 seat has been held by a democrat for the last three decades - the only one on the five-seat Commissioners Court.
Republican DL Wilson has run for this seat twice before, and until the final numbers came in, Wilson and his democratic opponent were neck and neck.
"Well it was really, really tough," Wilson said.
He said that while he understands the history in this precinct, party affiliation doesn’t really matter at the county level. He plans to represent constituents regardless of their party affiliation.
"This job is not for a Democrat or a Republican, it’s for a good person in
precinct two that wants to get everybody’s problems worked on,” he said.
Wilson said he will focus on road maintenance in the precinct, one of the main jobs for County Commissioners.
Texas House District 56 appeared twice on the ballot following the retirement of former Representative Charles “Doc” Anderson.
Republican Pat Curry beat democratic challenger Erin Shank and will fill out both the rest of Anderson’s term and the regular two-year term that begins January 2025.
"Next Tuesday, I'll file bills," Curry said. "I have bills that have already been written."
At his watch party on Tuesday he said he is ready to begin working for the residents of McLennan County.
In Texas House District 13, which covers Northeast Waco plus Bosque, Hill, Limestone, Freestone, Leon and Falls counties.
Republican incumbent Angelia Orr won the district in a convincing bid for reelection.
During her first term, Orr voted in favor of a bill that would loosen restrictions around dairy farms upstream of the McLennan County water supply.
District Judge for the 19th Judicial District went to Republican incumbent Thomas West.
West assumed the judgeship in 2021. Since then, he has cleared more than 4,000 felony cases, reducing the backlog for the district to 800 cases.
