Today and tomorrow, the VA will be at the Waco Convention Center, hosting educational sessions, a job expo and benefits expo. Also included will be a by-appointment claims clinic for veterans to start the process to receive benefits.

Public Affairs Officer for the Waco Regional Office, Victoria McAdoo said the expo is a way for the office to show up for veterans in the area.

"[The event] makes it a little bit easier," McAdoo said. "It takes the pressure off of the veteran for having to think that they don’t have the information they need, and it gives them the sense that somebody is listening and somebody cares."

On Thursday, the VA will host a sperate event for veterans who are at-risk for or are currently experiencing homelessness. This event will take place at the Veteran One Stop from 9am to 3pm and includes specialized resources related to veteran homelessness.

The Benefits Expo will take place today and tomorrow from 8 am to 3pm.
