From trusted news in the morning to music that carries listeners home at night, KWBU Waco Public Radio is woven into the daily lives of Central Texans. From February 11 - 20, the station launches its “For the Love of Public Radio” pledge drive with a goal of raising $350,000.
The campaign celebrates the relationship between KWBU and the community that powers it. Every program on the station is made possible by listener support.
“Public radio is an essential piece of a community,” said Lydia Tate, Executive Director. “When listeners give, they’re investing in independent journalism, civil dialogue, cultural programming, and the stories that define our community.”
During the ten-day drive, KWBU will share testimonials from listeners, highlight the impact of local reporting and programming, and offer special giving opportunities to encourage participation. The $350,000 goal will help sustain local news coverage, NPR programming, and community storytelling efforts throughout the coming year.
KWBU invites listeners to give “for the love of public radio” — for trusted journalism, for music discovery, for community connection, and for future generations to be inspired, informed, and delighted by local programming.
Matching contributions for this drive have been pledged by Central National Bank for $20,000 and The Clifton Family for $10,000 making every donation doubled up to $30,000. KWBU is looking for more matching contributions to help boost this large campaign making every donation received effectively doubled. Any organization or business wanting to make a large matching contribution is welcome and can reach out to the station or Lydia Tate to set up their matching donation.
Contributions can be made online or by phone at 254-710-1033.
