KWBU listeners showed their love during February pledge drive

KWBU listeners showed their support in a big way during the station’s February "Share the Love" pledge drive, contributing $132,565 in pledged support to help sustain Waco’s public radio station - and donations are still rolling in!

Throughout the drive, KWBU staff were joined on air by 27 guests, who shared conversations about the programming, journalism and community connections that make the station unique. Volunteers also helped take listener calls as supporters from across Central Texas stepped up to give.

Donors participated in many ways — some made their first contribution to KWBU, others increased their monthly support, and many longtime listeners continued their commitment to public radio in Waco.

The outpouring of support highlights the strong connection between KWBU and the community it serves.

“We’re grateful for every gift and every listener who helped make this pledge drive a success,” Interim Executive Director Lydia Tate said.

Looking Ahead

While the February drive marked a major milestone, KWBU’s fiscal year runs through May, and the station is still looking for more listeners to make the switch to members by becoming monthly supporters.

The station will continue to share occasional on-air reminders about supporting its mission as it works to meet the remainder of its annual budget.
