WACO, Texas — KWBU is proud to announce a new partnership with Texas Music Café to launch the Texas Music Café Radio Hour, a weekly program featuring performances, artists, and archival recordings from the celebrated Waco music venue and production archive.
Produced and distributed by KWBU, the Texas Music Café Radio Hour will bring listeners a wide-ranging mix of Texas music and stories drawn from more than 20 years of Texas Music Café history. The program will air as part of KWBU’s weekend lineup, creating a new home on public radio for the artists, performances, and musical community cultivated by Texas Music Café in Waco.
For more than two decades, Texas Music Café has been a longstanding part of the Waco cultural landscape. Through its venue, recordings, and ongoing support of working musicians, Texas Music Café has hosted an extraordinary range of artists and documented a significant era in Texas music. Its archives preserve performances and conversations that reflect the depth, diversity, and enduring spirit of the state’s musical traditions.

It is an opportunity to celebrate artists whose work has shaped the Texas music landscape while introducing listeners to new voices and unforgettable performances.”
The new program will replace the locally produced I Hear America Singing, hosted by Ross Burns. “Ross shared his wealth of information and love of folk music with KWBU listeners for 18 years. His years of volunteering were a labor of love, and we understood when he made the decision to retire,” KWBU’s Brodie Bashaw said. “The Texas Music Café Radio Hour will be something different, but it pairs well with Mountain Stage on Saturday and Beale Street Caravan on Sunday, giving listeners a great mix of music throughout the weekend.”
While marking the close of one cherished program, the launch of the Texas Music Café Radio Hour opens an exciting new chapter for weekend music programming at KWBU. Each episode will offer listeners access to the rich Texas Music Café archive, showcasing the wide variety of genres, musicians, and performances that have passed through Waco over the years.
The Texas Music Café Radio Hour will premiere on September 12 at 7pm on 103.3 KWBU. Weekly, the Texas Music Cafe Radio Hour will be aired on Saturdays at 7pm and Sundays at 9pm.
