Tomorrow the city of Waco Parks and Recreation Department will unveil the recently renovated Sul Ross Park during a ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The $2.1 million in renovations began roughly a year and a half ago. The upgraded facilities include a concrete skate course, a playground, basketball and tennis courts and a 1,500 square foot pavilion.

Previously known as the Charlie McCleary Tennis Center, the park was renovated in 2007 to include a skateboarding course.

The recent renovations have been planned since around 2009, which the city received $1.7 million dollars in funding from a state grant for. According to the Waco Tribune-Herald, development was delayed early on "as the city acquired additional land nearby and remediated an old gas station site."

The park opened earlier last month in anticipation of National Go Skateboarding day.
