On Veterans Day we hear a special interview with 86-year-old Allen Smith, a resident of Elm Mott. Smith an African-American began his decades-long career in the Air Force at a time when many were still fighting for their civil rights. Interviewing Smith is his son Michael Smith, whose wife found his father’s medals and diplomas hidden away in a closet.
