In anticipation of a strong cold front arriving Wednesday afternoon, the National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for Waco and the surrounding areas.  The watch goes into effect Wednesday night through Thursday afternoon.

The National Weather Service says we could expect ice accumulations of up to two tenths of an inch, and a ¼ of an inch is sleet is possible with this storm.

Earlier today, Texas Governor Greg Abbott held a press conference saying that ERCOT and agencies across the state are ready for this storm.

“Today, right now, the prognostication is that ERCOT will have an excess of 15,000 megawatts of power available, even at the time of highest demand.”

Governor Abbott says that the Texas Department of Transportation has begun treating the roadways, and is standing by 24/7.
