A former schoolteacher in Houston and Klein accused of sexually assaulting multiple children was arrested in Peru and brought back to the United States, according to Harris County law enforcement.

Wilfredo Sequeiros, 60, has multiple active criminal cases against him in Harris County, most of which involve alleged sex crimes against a child, according to county court records.

Harris County Precinct 5 Constable Terry Allbritton said in a Facebook post Tuesday afternoon that Sequeiros, who is also identified as "Wilbert" in some court records, was an elementary school teacher and soccer coach who allegedly sexually assaulted at least seven male and female children between the ages of 7 and 10. The post alleges that Sequeiros, while out of jail on bond, fled to Peru.

U.S. Marshals, Peruvian authorities, INTERPOL, and the Department of Justice's Office of International Affairs collaborated with detectives from the constable's office to locate Sequeiros and bring him back to Houston, according to Allbritton.

Photos shared by Allbritton appear to depict Sequeiros being walked through an airport, with law enforcement guiding him.

Defense attorneys for Sequeiros did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday.

The active cases against Sequeiros in Harris County were initiated between 2020 and 2024. Three of those cases involve allegations of continuous sexual abuse of a child, a first-degree felony which is punishable by a life sentence in Texas.

Court records indicate Sequeiros was arrested within the last week. His next court hearing is scheduled for Dec. 1.
