Fort Bend County drivers will have to start paying more to use toll roads at the start of the new year after county commissioners approved a rate increase last week.

Rates are increasing by 2 percent across the board on tolls roads in Fort Bend, a largely suburban area southwest of Houston. For drivers with two-axle vehicles, which is most common, that means paying an additional cent or two at each toll plaza.

The changes take effect Jan. 1, 2026. The rates were unanimously approved by the Fort Bend County Commissioners Court during its meeting Thursday, with no discussion. The Fort Bend County Toll Road Authority approved the rate increases in its Nov. 17 meeting.

The Fort Bend Parkway rates are increasing for drivers with toll tags by one cent to 51 cents. Without a tag, that rate is 76 cents. Along Fondren Plaza, rates are increasing for most drivers by two cents to 75 cents; without a toll tag, that increases to $1.02.

The Westpark Tollway has similar 2% rate increases. Commissioners also approved initial rates for FM 1463’s toll plaza, which is still under construction, at 84 cents for most drivers with a toll tag and $1.09 without.

On the portion of the Grand Parkway that runs through Fort Bend County, most drivers with a toll tag will pay one cent more at 47 cents, while drivers without a toll tag will pay 72 cents.

A complete list of rate increases by size of vehicle can be found on Fort Bend County's website.
