So Far, Early Voting Turnout Low In McLennan County

Dustin Drew

Early voting will continue next week for the March 1st joint general election in McLennan County and Jared Goldsmith, Elections Administrator for the county says that turn out so far has been lower than he expected.

“I hope our voters take advantage of the fact that we have early voting this weekend, on Saturday and Sunday.”

The polls will be open on Saturday from 7am until 7pm and they will be open on Sunday from 1pm to 6pm. Goldsmith says that the polls will be closed on Monday due to a state law that says they cannot have early voting on a federal holiday which is President’s Day.

Tomorrow is also the deadline to request a mail in ballot for the March 1stelection.

“We are recommending those who do apply for filling out the application for ballot by mail, to include both your driver’s license or state ID number, and the last four digits of your social security number.”

You can see all of the voting locations and hours, as well as deadlines online at mclennanvotes.com.
