The City of Waco has announced a final candidate for the position of city attorney.
Kristen Hamilton-Karam is the lone candidate for the Waco City Attorney position. Hamilton-Karam is currently Deputy City Attorney for the city of El Paso, with over a decade of experience in municipal legal experience.
Hamilton-Karam graduated from Seton Hall University School of Law. She also holds Bachelor’s degrees in both Psychology and Missiology. She has previously served as attorney for El Paso Independent School District and held positions in private practice.
Her experience includes advising city leaders in employment law, guiding public-private partnerships and provided counsel on city charter amendments, litigation, and land use.
Hamilton-Karam will be presented to the council for confirmation at the February 4 meeting.
She would replace Interim City Attorney Kathleen Perdon, who has served as interim attorney since last summer.
