When President Trump took office last week, he signed multiple Executive Orders relating to immigration. In cities across Texas, residents gathered to protest the shift in immigration policy and increase of ICE raids.
On the corner of Waco Drive and North Valley Mills, a large group gathers with Mexican flags and signs, saying things like, “No human is illegal” or “stop family separations now.”
One attendee, Margret Rodriguez-Frias said President’s Trump’s Executive Orders hit close to home for her family.
"I am married to an illegal immigrant," she said. "We’ve been in the process with the lawyer … my son was one month when we started and he’s 21 this year. So it's just a hard process."
She said instead of being angry, she wants to focus her energy on a solution.
"We just want to be heard or try to find something that’s easier for the residency process," she said.
Other members at the protest handed out fliers explaining what to do if Immigration and Customs Enforcement called or showed up at your work or house.
