Connally Independent School District announced last week they would consolidate three campuses next year, closing Connally Elementary School. Pre-K through fifth grade will be consolidated to one campus at the Connally Primary School at 100 Little Cadet Lane, beginning in Fall 2026.
The grades were previously split across three campuses: Connally Early Childhood Center, Connally Elementary School and Connally Primary School.
Connally Junior High and Connally High schools will remain at their current sites.
The decision comes amid years of falling enrollment and rising costs for the small district north of Waco. The move will also place multiple grade levels of state testing at the same campus - a move district leaders say could help accountability scores in the coming years.
Connally is in the beginning stages of state takeover after five consecutive years of failing accountability scores at Connally Elementary and Connally Junior High schools.
