Filmmaker Brandon Dickerson celebrates World Cup Cafe and Fair Trade Market's 20th anniversary with benefit screening of Sironia

In 2006, the World Cup Café and Fair Trade Market opened in what’s now called the Jubilee Center. For the past 20 years, its provided a place for Wacoans to enjoy breakfast, lunch and handmade crafts while supporting job training and Mission Waco’s homelessness ministries.

To help celebrate that anniversary, and bring in some extra funds for upgrades, World Cup is hosting a special screening of the film, Sironia, Sunday at 3:30pm followed by a question & answer session with director Brandon Dickerson, and his co-writer Wes Cunningham.

Brandon joined the show to talk about Sironia, World Cup, and the Fair Trade Movement.

Amid a nationwide blue wave, republicans won most seats in McLennan County

Our combined reporting team from The Waco Bridge and KWBU was busy Tuesday night, watching three key local races.

The County Commissioner Precinct 2 Race brought McLennan County Democrats their only victory as Jeremy Davis retook the longtime Democratic seat.

But McLennan County residents largely kept with long-held Republican precedence in other local races. Pat Curry, R-Waco, was re-elected for a second term in Texas House District 56 and in Senate District 22, Rep. David Cook, R-Mansfield, will be stepping into the unfinished term left empty by Brian Birdwell.

Baylor Political Science Chair Pat Flavin joined the show to help break down those local results.

For the first time in more than 30 years, Texans elected a Democratic governor. Here's how they responded.

For more than 30 years, Republicans have controlled the Texas governor’s office. But this year, Texas voters broke with long-held political precedent.

Democrat Gina Hinojosa defeated Gov. Greg Abbott on Tuesday. Her historic win will make her the state’s first Latina governor

The Texas Newsroom’s Blaise Gainey has more on the stunning outcome — and how supporters on either side are reacting to the results.

How Texans reacted to Hinojosa's win.
