SHOUT! Black Gospel Music Moments - Columbus Mann

Columbus Mann and the Gospel Outreach Choir of the Pentecostal COGIC of Inkster, Michigan, Jesus Never Fails LP features the blistering seven-minute vamp, “Blind Old Satan.”

Some of our absolute favorite recordings in the Gospel Music Archives at Baylor University are those performed and recorded by individual churches – they often have a freedom and excitement regular label studio recordings sometimes lack. Case in point: Columbus Mann and the Gospel Outreach Choir of the Pentecostal COGIC of Inkster, Michigan, and their Jesus Never Fails LP.

Mann wrote or arranged nearly all of the songs and sings lead on several tracks, including the blistering gospel vamp, “Blind Old Satan” which features the entire choir – and band – cutting loose for an amazing, spirit-filled seven minutes!
