Well, what do you know? This is my 500th episode of “SHOUT! Black Gospel Music Moments for KWBU. In the nearly 10 years since I started plumbing Baylor University’s Black Gospel Music Preservation Project and Black Gospel Archives for gospel music, I’ve been blessed to hear – and share – what I think is the world’s greatest music! Thank you, Brodie and Beth and Stephen and Travis and all of the engineers and librarians who helped make this possible – and to Dean Pattie Orr, who first came up with the idea!
So to what to play for my 500th episode? I’ve chosen the very first gospel 45 I ever bought – and one that hooked me at an early age -- The Chamber Brothers’ dynamite version of “People Get Ready”!
I’m Robert Darden … “Shout! Black Gospel Music Moments” is produced by KWBU and the Black Gospel Music Preservation Program at Baylor University Libraries.
