Suzette May is an environmental access consultant based in Waco, Texas. She leads local infrastructure efforts through a disability advocacy nonprofit, Mobilize Waco, and serves on several national and state-level committees, including the Association for the Education and RehabilitationAmerican for the Blind and Visually Impaired Environmental AccessCommittee, the American Council of the Blind’s Pedestrian Environmental Access Committee and chairs the American Council of the Blind of Texas Transportation Committee.
Suzette recently completed her B.A. in Disability Studies with Honors at Arizona State University, where she researched Accessible Pedestrian Signals. She is now working on a Master’s in Orientation & Mobility at Western Michigan University.
She champions a world without barriers, especially low expectations and negative stereotypes. Suzette travels the country with her Seeing Eye Dog, Fred, speaking and advocating for accessibility.
